High Commission of Sri Lanka in Malaysia hosts “Sri Lankan Cuisine” Food Festival in Kuala Lumpur SPICING UP TASTEBUDS, THE SRI LANKAN WAY

The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Kuala Lumpur in collaboration with the Hotel Palace of Golden Horses in Kuala Lumpur and Mount Lavinia Hotel organised Sri Lanka Food festival, “Sri Lankan Cuisine” and traditional dance performance at the Hotel Palace of Golden Horses in Kuala Lumpur from 16th to 31st October 2014. The key objectives of the Sri Lanka Food Festival and traditional dance performance is to promote tourism , Sri Lankan culture, cuisines in Malaysia and to bring citizens of both countries more closer and understand cultures of both countries.

Sri Lanka Poised To Be Springboard To South Asia: NCCIM

Depoliticise UN system and mechanism to enhance credibility – President Rajapaksa calls on member nations

Although the role of the UN in advancing international peace, security and prosperity is crucial in the contemporary world, in order to gain the confidence and goodwill of the international community as a whole, one of the essential requirements is consistency of standards across the board without any perception of selectivity or discrimination, President Mahinda Rajapaksa said. “It is in this context that the current functioning of the system needs fresh examination in order to enhance its credibility. To be successful, this process must involve de-politicisation of the UN systems and mechanisms and they must stop being hostage to different forms of funding,” he elaborated.

Responding to the ‘Oral Update’ on Sri Lanka by the High Commissioner for Human Rights at the Human Rights Council (HRC) in Geneva today (25 September 2014), Sri Lanka’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Ambassador Ravinatha Aryasinha  said “the Government of Sri Lanka does not wish to help legitimize a flawed process and have a detrimental precedents established”, and hence “has to respectfully refuse those who urge that Sri Lanka cooperate with the OHCHR investigation.”
